Description
Delaware Juniors Youth Volleyball Program (YVP) was created to offer safe and age-appropriate volleyball instruction to younger players. The program is designed for boys and girls ages 5 to 10 and will focus on skill development and games / play specifically designed to teach young players the various components of volleyball.
Elements
YVP courses permits a high number of individual ball contacts, keeping players active and interested. The course format is also designed to facilitate individual instruction/feedback from course instructors. YVP courses will utilize lower nets and lighter volleyballs to encourage proper mechanics that are age appropriate.
Age Divisions - Age groups are divided into; 6 & Under, 8 & Under and 10 & Under. Age division is based on the child’s age at the time of participation.
Schedule - The program will run for two five (5) week sessions held on Thursday evenings for 1 hour per age group.
6 & Under – 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM
8 & Under – 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM
10 & Under – 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Session 1 – January 14, 21, 28, February 4, 11
Session 2 - February 18, 25, March 4, 11, 18
Location – Independence School, 1300 Papermill Road, Newark, DE 19711
Cost
Each session is $50.00 which includes five (5) weeks of instruction and a uniform. Participants will need to provide athletics shoes and knee pads.
Coaching
Members of Delaware Juniors coaching staff serve as the primary instructors for YVP program. Delaware Juniors student-athletes, alumni, and special guest coaches also provide instructional support to the YVP program. We also encourage parents to be involved as coaches or helpers.
